The Hoboken Shelter is inviting students in kindergarten through eighth grade to get creative and share what “home” means to them through our first-ever Art and Essay Competition.
Designed to connect our youngest neighbors with the work of The Hoboken Shelter and encourage them to think about what it means to care for neighbors in need, the competition is open to all children who live in Hoboken or attend a Hoboken school.
Students in grades K–2 may submit artwork, while students in grades 3–8 can choose between artwork and an essay of up to 300 words. Entries will be judged by grade level, with special guest judges including Hoboken Mayor Emily Jabbour and award-winning children’s author Raakhee Mirchandani.
Winners will receive Amazon gift cards ranging from $15 to $50, generously funded by the Shelter Board Members organizing the competition.
The deadline to enter is January 15, 2027, at 11:59 p.m.
