In 2025, something powerful happened at The Hoboken Shelter.
More than 185 people moved from the streets, to the Shelter, to a home of their own. Behind that number are individuals who found stability after uncertainty, dignity after hardship, and the chance to begin again with a set of keys in hand.
Each housing placement represents a person who no longer has to wonder where they will sleep at night. A senior who can lock their door. A working adult rebuilding after crisis. A neighbor with an address, a routine, and a future that feels possible again.
A Community That Showed Up
This progress did not happen by chance. It was made possible by a community that showed up every day.
Board members led with vision. Donors gave generously. Volunteers shared their time and care. Staff guided each Guest through every step of the housing process. Neighbors across Hoboken continued to believe that housing is a shared responsibility.
When these efforts come together, lives change.
A Mission That Endures
Since 1982, The Hoboken Shelter has stood firm in a simple belief: every person in our community deserves to be warm, fed, and cared for.
That belief continues to guide our work as we navigate rising rents, limited housing, and growing need. Housing more than 185 people in one year shows what is possible when compassion meets commitment.
Thank you for believing in people, for trusting this mission, and for helping turn hope into a set of keys and a fresh start.
