Kids’ Corner for Remote Ways to Volunteer

Kids 18 years ond under are allowed to volunteer at the Shelter to help us prepare and serve lunch and dinner. Kids 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please call the Shelter if you have specific questions. To sign up, and to see available volunteer opportunities, please use the CharityQuest App. We are currently limiting the number of volunteers to 8 per shift. Masks are required on the premises.

Here are other ways that you can get involved and give back to the community!

Check in on Elderly Neighbors

During this time, our elderly neighbors may be in need of food, toiletries, or words of comfort. Your kindness will make a difference!

Write (or draw) a Note of Hope

Mail from you will help lift our Guests’ spirits on these difficult days.

A Note of Hope and Encouragement will help lift our Guests’ spirits on their hard days. Seeing your note, card & or pictures for our Guests will certainly brighten their day!

Make, Wrap, Deliver Sandwiches

Any kind of sandwiches are appreciated, but our Guests prefer meat-based sandwiches.

See below for more information.

Host a Virtual Collection

A great way to help is to take up a collection of Food, Paper Goods, & Toiletries.

Maybe you & your classmates or family members can create a challenge competition to see who donates the most Toilet Paper?

Check-out our Amazon Wish List for a socially distant way to donate and for ideas.

Start a Change Jar

This is a fun and simple way to raise money. Drop change in at the end of the day and watch the money grow!

Did you know that each meal at the Shelter costs only $2? Your change can provide many meals!

You can also opt to donate $300 to provide dinner to all of our guests for one evening. Click here to donate via PayPal.

Join the HoBOOken 5k or Scary Scurry Halloween Races!

Registration for this annual Halloween race starts as early as May 1st each year. Your race ticket is a donation to the Shelter.

Each runner can also set up a fundraising page to collect even more! Keep an eye out for registration.

Host a Birthday Fundraiser

For your birthday, encourage friends to donate to the Shelter instead of doing gifts.

You can also pick a family holiday where you usually exchange gifts, and use donate a part of your budget to the Shelter!

Be a Social Media Star!

Ask a parent if they can post a video to Facebook or another platform with you talking about your fundraising!

Spread the word about the Shelter’s accomplishments & needs by following us on our social media channels!
